What a time to meditate! All these hours of darkness incline us inward - a beautiful time of year to explore solitude, just being.  Meditation gives us time to experience the joy of our being, of who we actually are at the heart of all this experience.  Calming the mind through breath, asana, and the practice of letting go of attachment to thoughts clears the way to experience our heart, the heart of the universe, in its depth.  We can know for ourselves the basic goodness of life through taking time to meditate regularly, even if only for five or ten minutes each day.  This commitment will grow, opening the flower of the heart over time.
